‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Approaches $900 Million as Box Office Success Continues
Blockbuster fatigue is expected to set in eventually, but ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ shows no signs of slowing down. Tom Holland’s latest portrayal of the beloved hero has been rewriting box office records every weekend since its late July release, and this weekend is no different.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and featuring Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal, the film debuted with a record-breaking $360 million domestically, surpassing even ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ It quickly became the fastest film to reach both $700 million and $800 million domestically, maintaining its stronghold on premium IMAX screens well into its second month.
This impressive consistency has led the film to another significant milestone. Recent estimates indicate that ‘Brand New Day’ earned an additional $22.2 million domestically this weekend from 3,678 locations, bringing its estimated total domestic gross to $891.51 million, putting it on the brink of the $900 million mark as it heads into next weekend.
This pace keeps the film in a competitive race for the all-time domestic box office record. ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is the only film to have crossed the $900 million threshold domestically, achieving that feat over 50 days back in 2015. ‘Brand New Day’ has consistently outpaced that record since its opening.
The film’s trajectory has been remarkable by any standard. It became the fastest movie to reach $700 million domestically in just 13 days and then hit $800 million in 19 days, surpassing both ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ on the all-time domestic chart.

On a global scale, ‘Brand New Day’ has surpassed the $2 billion mark, making it the eighth film in history to achieve this milestone and Sony’s highest-grossing release ever, exceeding ‘No Way Home’s’ previous global total of $1.9 billion. With a production budget of $225 million, the film’s commercial success has become one of the defining narratives of the 2026 box office year.
Much of the film’s staying power can be attributed to its unusually strong week-over-week holds, a trend that is rare for films this deep into their theatrical run. Alongside Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ which has been competing closely with ‘Brand New Day’ for premium format screens throughout the summer, both films have contributed to one of the strongest domestic box office years since before the pandemic.
With a Labor Day weekend boost still on the horizon and the $900 million milestone now firmly within reach, ‘Brand New Day’ is poised to make history once again in the coming days.
