‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Becomes Fastest Film to Reach $500 Million
Box office records have been shattered almost daily since Tom Holland’s latest portrayal of Peter Parker hit theaters, but this recent achievement caps off an unprecedented first week for the film. Instead of merely breaking a single-day record, this milestone reflects a sustained momentum across a full week of ticket sales.
This distinction is significant because maintaining record-breaking momentum throughout an entire opening week, well beyond the initial weekend rush, is a much tougher benchmark than any single-day total. Few films in history have managed to keep pace with the impressive numbers that ‘Brand New Day’ has been posting since its debut.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has confirmed that ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ officially reached a cumulative domestic gross of $508.7 million on Thursday, making it the fastest film to surpass the $500 million mark at the domestic box office. This achievement also grants it the highest-grossing first week in domestic box office history, surpassing ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
This accomplishment places ‘Brand New Day’ in an exclusive group. Only 23 films in history have grossed over $500 million domestically without adjusting for inflation, and just six of those belong to the MCU, including ‘Endgame,’ ‘No Way Home,’ ‘Black Panther,’ ‘Infinity War,’ ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ and ‘The Avengers.’
Previously, ‘Endgame’ took eight days to reach the same $500 million threshold back in 2019, meaning ‘Brand New Day’ broke that record by a full day. To provide further context, ‘Endgame’ only reached a comparable domestic total after a similar stretch of release, despite ultimately becoming both the highest-grossing MCU movie and the second highest-grossing film of all time, behind ‘Avatar.’
The daily figures behind this milestone have been equally remarkable. The film achieved the largest domestic totals for both a Monday and a Tuesday in box office history, while continuing to set records at a dizzying pace throughout its first week in theaters.

Looking ahead, if ‘Brand New Day’ maintains its current trajectory relative to ‘Endgame,’ it could eventually reach a domestic total of around $921.4 million, making it the second-highest-grossing domestic release of all time, just behind 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ at $936.7 million. Globally, the film is on track to potentially gross over $2 billion by the end of its theatrical run, although it remains uncertain whether it can ultimately surpass ‘Endgame’s’ full worldwide total of $2.799 billion.
For a franchise now in its eleventh live-action installment, achieving the fastest-ever run to half a billion dollars marks a genuinely historic milestone, one that few would have anticipated even a month before the film’s release. Whether ‘Brand New Day’ can keep pace with ‘Endgame’ at the very top of the all-time charts remains the biggest question as its theatrical run continues.
