‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Sets Record with Biggest First Week at Box Office
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on an extraordinary box office journey, as the Tom Holland-led Marvel film has shattered records once again. According to Sony Pictures, the movie has officially achieved the largest first week ever at the domestic box office, surpassing milestones set by some of Hollywood’s biggest hits.
In just its first seven days, the film has crossed the $500 million mark in North America, making it the fastest film to reach this figure. It outpaced the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame, which hit the same milestone after eight days in theaters following its release in 2019.
The momentum for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been remarkable since its opening weekend. The film quickly established itself as one of the largest theatrical launches in history, breaking Avengers: Endgame’s domestic opening weekend record. Sony confirmed that the movie debuted with $360 million in North America, exceeding Endgame’s $357.1 million debut.
While Avengers: Endgame still holds the record for the biggest worldwide opening weekend, Brand New Day has been setting its own impressive records. The film also recorded the highest Thursday preview numbers and the largest Friday domestic total in history, marking Sony Pictures’ strongest opening weekend ever.
The film’s global performance has been equally impressive. Sony announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day reached the $1 billion milestone worldwide in just six days, making it the second-fastest movie to achieve this feat, trailing only Avengers: Endgame.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film continues the journey of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker following the emotional events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It explores Peter’s attempts to move forward while leading a more isolated life, interrupted by a mysterious enemy who begins to hunt him.

The cast features Zendaya as MJ, along with Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. Produced by Marvel Studios and Amy Pascal, the film had a reported production budget of $225 million.
Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman also spoke about the ongoing popularity of Holland and Zendaya in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He emphasized that their success stems from their talent and work ethic, rather than mere fame.
“They’re not popular because they’re popular,” Rothman noted. “They’re popular because they’re talented, and they deserve their popularity. They’re lovely, decent, grounded, good-valued people, and they work really hard. So they’ve earned every ounce of their success.”
The impressive box office results indicate that audiences remain highly engaged with the Spider-Man franchise and its stars. With more competition set to arrive in theaters soon, Sony anticipates that the film will continue to attract viewers as its theatrical run progresses.
For Marvel and Sony, the triumph of Spider-Man: Brand New Day reinforces that Peter Parker remains one of the most beloved and powerful characters in contemporary cinema. The movie’s record-breaking first week has already secured its status as one of the biggest superhero releases of all time.
