‘The Madison’ Season 2 Achieves Major Milestone for Taylor Sheridan
Taylor Sheridan has established a remarkable television empire in recent years, consistently delivering hit after hit across various networks and genres. However, his latest Western, ‘The Madison’, has managed to distinguish itself even among his prolific offerings.
Debuting on Paramount+ this past March, ‘The Madison’ is a standalone family drama set far from the ‘Yellowstone’ universe. It quickly demonstrated its strength, attracting 8,000,000 global viewers within its first 10 days, marking the largest original series launch for any Sheridan show on the platform.
This rapid success paved the way for an unprecedented achievement as Season 2 has now arrived. According to ScreenRant, ‘The Madison’ is the first series in Sheridan’s career to have two seasons greenlit and produced simultaneously, highlighting the confidence Paramount had in the show even before it had fully resonated with audiences.
The decision to film both seasons back-to-back was primarily influenced by scheduling conflicts. Kurt Russell’s commitments to Apple TV’s ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ necessitated early planning for his availability, and Russell explained the strategy directly.
“And then before we start the second season next year, instead of doing that, we will start with Kurt’s stuff,” Russell told Entertainment Weekly, noting that this plan allowed the team to fulfill his first season obligations before seamlessly transitioning into filming Season 2.
This approach meant that Season 2 was already completed well before most viewers had finished binge-watching the show’s inaugural season. The strategy proved effective, as Paramount renewed the series for Season 2 just 12 days after its original premiere, a notably quick turnaround by streaming standards.
Despite a mixed critical reception, with ‘The Madison’ currently holding a 60% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes alongside a stronger 73% audience rating, the show has maintained its momentum. It has also emerged as Sheridan’s biggest freshman season debut among women aged 35 and older, a key demographic for Paramount+’s broader strategy.

Sheridan’s impressive track record makes this latest milestone seem almost inevitable. He is currently behind five of the 10 most-watched series in Paramount+ history, including ‘Yellowstone,’ ‘Landman,’ ‘Lioness,’ ‘Mayor of Kingstown,’ and ‘Tulsa King.’
‘The Madison’ has also secured a third season, further solidifying Sheridan’s influence across the platform, even as he manages multiple productions simultaneously. Season 3 is not expected to begin filming until early 2027, according to comments from cast member Ben Schnetzer, meaning fans will have to wait a while as Season 2 finally premieres.
What began as an offshoot concept has quickly evolved into a standalone story that proves ‘The Madison’ doesn’t require the ‘Yellowstone’ name to attract a massive audience. With two more seasons already secured, Sheridan’s latest Western seems poised for continued success.
