‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Sets Streaming Record on Disney+, Fuels Season 4 Speculation
Marvel Television has faced challenges on Disney+ in recent years, with many shows struggling to gain traction in a competitive streaming environment. However, one series has emerged with a compelling narrative, and the numbers supporting it are hard to overlook.
‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ returned for its second season in March 2026, continuing the story with Wilson Fisk firmly in control of New York City as mayor, while Matt Murdock operates from the shadows to dismantle Fisk’s expanding empire. This season saw the return of key characters, including Vincent D’Onofrio as Fisk and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, alongside the much-anticipated comeback of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones.
Recent data reveals just how significant the audience for this season has been. According to new statistics from Luminate, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 achieved the highest streaming minutes of any Disney+ original series in 2026, amassing 2.3 billion minutes streamed in the U.S. during the first half of the year. This impressive figure surpasses other originals on the platform, including ‘Wonder Man’ at 1.9 billion minutes and ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2 at 1.8 billion minutes.

Interestingly, the first season of the show also made a mark, logging 1.3 billion minutes and placing just behind ‘Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord’ Season 1. This means that two seasons of the same series have both made it into the platform’s top five most-streamed originals within the same six-month period, a remarkable achievement that highlights the show’s ability to consistently engage its audience.
What makes this milestone even more significant is its comparison to Nielsen’s ratings system. Despite leading Luminate’s chart, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ has yet to appear on Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 originals list across both seasons, failing to make the cut in 17 attempts. This discrepancy illustrates how different tracking services can present varied perspectives on the streaming landscape, as Luminate and Nielsen utilize distinct data sets and methodologies, explaining the contrast between a top streaming total and a lack of presence in Nielsen’s rankings.

The Luminate figures coincide with the report detailing the cancellation of ‘Wonder Man,’ which, despite nearing two billion minutes of viewing time, did not meet Disney+’s retention threshold for new series. This context emphasizes the intense competition within the platform’s original content, demonstrating that even shows with billions of streamed minutes can face uncertain futures if they do not meet specific internal criteria.
For ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ the streaming success indicates that Marvel Television may have found a true hit, even if traditional ratings systems have yet to fully recognize this achievement. With a third season reportedly in production, the creative team seems poised to continue building on this momentum as they advance Matt Murdock’s journey.
