New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Statue Sparks Theories About Doctor Doom’s Deadliest Weapon
Merchandise leaks have become a key source for Marvel fans eager to uncover plot details ahead of a film’s release, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is no exception. As the December premiere approaches, each new collectible reveal provides fans with fresh material to speculate on what Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom might be plotting.
The latest collectible to ignite this excitement comes from Iron Studios, which has unveiled a 1:10 scale statue featuring Downey’s Doom seated on an intricately designed throne adorned with mystical symbols, affectionately dubbed “Doom runes” by fans. This collectible includes three interchangeable arm options for the figure, each hinting at different elements of the character’s arsenal for the upcoming film.
Two of the arms are quite straightforward, with one showcasing an open hand and another gripping a glowing green tome that has already sparked speculation, potentially serving as a substitute for the Darkhold. However, it’s the third arm that has fans buzzing, as it depicts Doom holding a small, unnamed device resembling an ornate remote control.

Iron Studios has not officially named this accessory, referring to it only as an interchangeable arm, although it is labeled as “white-1-key” in the product’s image files. This ambiguity hasn’t deterred fans from theorizing, with many convinced that Doom is wielding the Ultimate Nullifier, one of the most powerful weapons in Marvel Comics.
For those unfamiliar with its comic origins, the Ultimate Nullifier was initially found aboard Galactus’ Worldship before being discovered by the Fantastic Four, with Reed Richards famously threatening to use it to compel Galactus to leave Earth. This weapon can erase a target from existence entirely, and its destructive potential is amplified by the wielder’s willpower and mental strength, allowing a sufficiently powerful user to potentially obliterate entire universes.
However, not all fans are convinced that the Ultimate Nullifier theory is valid. Some have noted that the prop does not closely resemble the weapon’s traditional comic design, while supporters argue that the device has varied appearances throughout different eras of Marvel Comics, allowing for the MCU to reinterpret its design.
Several alternative theories have also surfaced regarding the mysterious prop. Some fans speculate that it could be a modified TemPad, enabling Doom to traverse different worlds, which aligns well with the multiverse themes prevalent in Marvel’s recent narratives. Others propose that it might be a key to the Library of Worlds, an interdimensional knowledge repository that, in Jonathan Hickman’s source comics, Doom actually accesses and uses as a base of operations leading up to Secret Wars.
Given that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and its sequel ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ are heavily influenced by Hickman’s acclaimed comic run, the Library of Worlds theory holds significant weight, especially since Doom’s live-action journey appears to closely mirror his comic counterpart’s arc leading into that storyline. Regardless of what the device ultimately turns out to be, its prominent presence in official merchandise indicates it will play a crucial role in Doom’s plans when the film finally debuts.
