This year’s Oscar ceremony saw Anora triumph in a very surprising fashion, taking home all the major awards, including the award for Best Actress, which went to Mikey Madison.

And while Madison’s win is neither a surprise nor undeserved, there are still those who would like to have seen some other actress take the prize. Among all the names, that of Demi Moore was one of the most often-mentioned ones.

And while Demi Moore ultimately lost the award for her brilliant performance in Substance, the actress does not feel tricked or anything, as she confirmed in a recent interview.

If you look at the mainstream media, this year’s Best Actress battle was the one between Mikey Madison and Demi Moore. And while Madison won, many believed that Demi Moore deserved the statue not just because of how brilliant her interpretation was, but also because of everything she’s given to Hollywood while getting little in return.

Many fans were disappointed when Moore lost, but the actress herself wasn’t sad or angry then: “As this awards season comes to a close, I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey. It’s been the ride of a lifetime and we’re just getting started! So grateful for my team, my fellow nominees, and everyone who has made this experience so full of joy and light… And a huge congratulations to Mikey Madison — can’t wait to see what you do next.”

Those are the words that Moore wrote on social media at the time. Now, she has reaffirmed her stance in a recent interview, showing extreme grace even in defeat.

“I leaned over and whispered to my manager, ‘I think it’s going to Mikey.’ I don’t know why I knew, but I did. I was so centered and calm. I didn’t feel gutted. I didn’t feel any of those kinds of things. I just trusted, and am in trust of, whatever is going to unfold,” Moore said.
