Disney Is Casting a Male Filipino Lead for Fall 2026 Animated Movie, According to Rumor
This year, Disney is planning on releasing two movies – Elio and Zootropolis 2 – but while the famous animation studio is hoping to deliver two hits, 2026 will be an even bigger year for them.
Namely, there are four animated movies in total slated for a 2026 release – Hoppers, Toy Story 5, Ice Age 6 (now under Disney) and an untitled movie that is scheduled for a Fall 2026 release.
Not much is known about the latter movie, but a recent rumor seemingly reveals more information.
Based on the information provided by Daniel Richtman via his Patreon account, Disney has already begun the casting process for the movie and based on the description, it could be an Encanto-style movie that will be focused on a cultural group. Here is the information:
[ KOKO ]
Actor to play a character that is male, Filipino, and 10 years old. Koko is energetic, hilarious, and smart. Koko hasn’t always fit in, and his experiences with bullying have given him an occasional shy streak. Sometimes he can be Impulsive, impatient, and easily distracted. But most of the time he’s a big ball of silly energy who’s excited to make new friends.
Koko seems to be the main character of the movie and while we don’t have any official information about it, it seems like this will be a movie similar to Coco, Encanto, or Moana, i.e., a movie that will focus on the culture of a specific ethnic group.
Take this with a grain of salt, of course, but be sure to keep following us as we will provide you with all the official information as soon as we get them!
