Johnny Depp Joins Hollywood Vampires in Glasgow as UK Tour Continues
Rock supergroups don’t get much more unique or star-studded than ‘Hollywood Vampires’. Formed out of a shared passion for classic rock and a tribute to the “dead, drunk friends” of rock’s golden era, the band has spent the last decade transforming celebrity side project energy into sold-out arena tours.
This momentum surged into Scotland this week, as the band kicked off its first UK tour in nearly three years at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro. Established in 2015 by Alice Cooper, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, and actor-musician Johnny Depp, ‘Hollywood Vampires’ has earned a reputation for blending celebrity spectacle with authentic musicianship, and Monday night’s performance only added to that legacy.
The Glasgow concert stood out as a highlight of the tour, receiving a full five-star rating for their electrifying performance. This is a strong testament to a band whose live reputation has only grown since its early tours, proving there remains a significant audience eager to see this lineup perform live.
Monday’s Glasgow gig was part of an eight-date UK tour that began with a show at London’s The O2 on August 12, followed by performances in Cardiff, Scarborough, and Manchester, before concluding in Birmingham, Colchester, and Halifax. This marks the band’s first live shows in the UK in almost three years, a hiatus that only heightened anticipation among fans.
Joining Cooper, Perry, and Depp on stage is longtime touring member Tommy Henriksen, completing the band’s core lineup for this tour. Before hitting the road, the group expressed their excitement about returning to UK and European stages after such a long break, promising fans unforgettable nights filled with energy.
The enthusiasm was palpable among the Glasgow audience. Opening for ‘Hollywood Vampires’ was The Jesus and Mary Chain, the iconic alternative rock band from East Kilbride, adding a distinctly Scottish flavor to the evening.
Much of the ongoing interest in ‘Hollywood Vampires’ live performances can be attributed to Depp’s presence, and Glasgow was no exception. Ticket prices for the Hydro show ranged from approximately £50.90 to £560.40 for VIP packages, reflecting the strong demand for a band whose appeal transcends typical classic rock audiences.
For a project dedicated to honoring rock’s fallen icons, from John Lennon to Keith Moon, the band has successfully transformed nostalgia into a vibrant live experience more than a decade after its inception. This blend of tribute and spectacle has become a hallmark of ‘Hollywood Vampires’, setting their shows apart from standard legacy rock tours.
What’s Next for the Tour
With Glasgow now behind them, ‘Hollywood Vampires’ will head to Manchester’s AO Arena before moving on to Birmingham, Colchester, and finally Halifax to wrap up the UK leg of the tour. Following that, the tour will continue into mainland Europe, with additional dates already scheduled across Germany and France later this month.
Given the enthusiastic reception in Glasgow, expectations are high for the remaining UK stops. For a band as unconventional as this, built around three larger-than-life personalities more than ten years after their formation, this level of consistency on the road speaks volumes about the staying power of this project.
