‘Minions & Monsters’ Reveals New Look Ahead of Release Date

A fresh glimpse has been unveiled for Minions & Monsters, offering fans another sneak peek at the upcoming animated film.

Directed by Pierre Coffin, who co-wrote the script with Brian Lynch, Minions & Monsters is an animated comedy produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures. This film is part of the Despicable Me franchise and continues the Minions prequel series.

Set approximately 40 years before the events of Minions (2015), the story follows the Minions as they journey to Old Hollywood in the 1920s, attempting to create their own monster movie. The narrative blends classic film history with the signature chaotic humor of the Minions.

The voice cast features Pierre Coffin as the Minions, alongside a star-studded lineup including Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, Phil LaMarr, and Trey Parker. Waltz portrays a film director, while Bridges takes on the role of a studio head.

The project was initially announced in July 2024 following the release of Despicable Me 4. Coffin and Lynch returned to spearhead the creative process, with Chris Meledandri producing the film. John Powell composes the music, marking a notable change in the franchise’s sound, as this is the first Despicable Me film not scored by Heitor Pereira.

Production updates indicate that the film was featured in early marketing materials, including a Super Bowl promo in February 2026 and a presentation at CinemaCon in April 2026. The latest official look is part of the ongoing promotional campaign leading up to the release.

The film is set to premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 21, ahead of its theatrical release in the United States on July 1.

Additionally, reports have surfaced regarding a leaked audio recording from a test screening in October 2025, where an audience member secretly recorded the film and shared it online. This incident sparked early discussions surrounding the project during its development.

The new look enhances the excitement surrounding the film as it approaches its release, providing fans with a clearer vision of its Old Hollywood backdrop and monster movie theme.
