‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Becomes Fastest Film to Cross $900 Million Domestically
Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as the wall-crawler has been rewriting box office history this summer, leaving analysts struggling to keep pace. Since its late-July debut, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has consistently set new benchmarks, with each milestone arriving quicker than the last.
This remarkable pace is especially impressive considering how far into its theatrical run the film is. Typically, blockbusters experience a significant slowdown at this stage, yet Sony and Marvel’s latest Spidey adventure continues to post numbers that rival its opening weeks.
Now, that momentum has led to a historic achievement. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is officially the fastest film ever to cross $900 million domestically, reaching this milestone in just 36 days and becoming only the second film in history to do so.
On its sixth Friday in theaters, the film grossed an impressive $3.9 million, reflecting a mere 30.1% drop from the previous Friday, despite losing 158 theaters heading into the weekend. In comparison, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ experienced a steeper 51.5% decline at the same point in its run, while ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ dropped 25.2%, illustrating how unusually strong the film’s legs have remained this deep into its release.
By the end of that sixth Friday, ‘Brand New Day’ had amassed a running domestic total of $903.7 million, placing it $93 million ahead of where ‘Endgame’ was at the same point in its theatrical run. This gap is particularly striking considering that ‘Brand New Day’ had only opened $3 million ahead of ‘Endgame’, a modest lead that has since expanded significantly.
Industry projections now estimate that the film’s sixth three-day weekend in the United States will land between $16 million and $18 million, figures that would have seemed almost unimaginable for a film this far removed from its opening frame under typical box office conditions.
The film’s trajectory has consistently exceeded expectations at nearly every stage of its release. It set the all-time domestic opening weekend record with $360 million, became the fastest film to reach $500 million domestically in just seven days, and has continued to climb the all-time domestic charts, recently surpassing ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ $858.3 million total to become the biggest Marvel film ever at the North American box office.
With ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ as the only film ahead of it to reach $900 million domestically, and doing so at a much slower pace, ‘Brand New Day’ has firmly established itself as one of the most dominant theatrical runs in modern blockbuster history. Whether it can challenge ‘The Force Awakens’ $936.6 million all-time domestic record remains a closely watched storyline in box office tracking.

Globally, the film has already surpassed $2 billion, ranking among the fastest films to reach that milestone, and it continues to add to a worldwide total that shows no signs of slowing as it moves deeper into September. This sustained international performance, combined with its historic domestic pace, has made ‘Brand New Day’ one of the defining box office success stories of the year.
With the film’s sixth weekend numbers still coming in and fresh milestones piling up almost weekly, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ appears set to remain a fixture atop box office charts for weeks to come.
